FORTUNA
Fortuna is the Roman Goddess of Luck with many feasts held in her honor throughout the year. This particular celebration on April 5th is known as Fortuna Publica—fortune of the people (as opposed to war or harvest). This goddess dispensed both good and bad luck in a Switzerland like way, but as she evolved she became to represent divination. She often appears with the Wheel of Fortune, a representation of the endless changes in life between prosperity and disaster. Romans traditionally asked Fortuna about their fate and difficult problems on this day, then received replies on slips of paper, often baked into small bread balls akin to a fortune cookie.
Fortuna’s Feast is celebrated on April 5th and is a great day to seek out a tarot reading or see your favorite astrologer.
The Fortuna ritual below is designed to protect and enhance. It is about manifestation, but also about trusting that the powers that be are watching over our best laid plans.
